Our 42nd will be hosting its monthly Steering Committee Meeting on Monday, January 28th. Details:

Our 42nd Avenue Steering Committee
Monday, January 28th, 2013
5:30-7:00pm
St. Charles Church (5310 NE 42nd Ave)

While our committee meetings are open to the public, we definitely encourage first time participants to touch base prior to coming so we can get you caught up to speed — the reason for this is so we can use limited meeting time effectively.

Rough Discussion Items:

  • Organizational Development:
    • Future board formation and staffing decision-making discussion
    • Fundraising/grant-writing notes
  • Economic Development:
    • Mini-grant program
    • Whitaker Site discussion
    • Design Fair progress and required next steps
  • Community Relationships:
    • Annual celebration and community engagement process

Please note that the above agenda is rough and open to edits.

  1. Hi. I’m confused: What is the difference between Our 42nd Avenue and NPI, Neighborhood Prosperity Iniative?
As a resident, I’m wondering if you are two separate entities or conflicting entities or just the same thing.

It would be great if you all could make the connection OR the distinction…

    Thanks! -randy chambers

    • Hi Randy,

Our 42nd Avenue is one of six Neighborhood Prosperity Initiative districts. We usually use ‘Neighborhood Prosperity Initiative’ to describe all six districts together, whereas we use ‘Our 42nd Ave’ to describe our district by itself. Examples of other NPI districts include the Cully Blvd. Alliance and the Jade District. All of the NPI districts work cooperatively and do not compete — in fact, Our 42nd Ave and the Cully Blvd. Alliance had a joint planning meeting this morning.

      Hope this helps clarify.

      Many thanks,
      Michael
